A Few Stray Poems
by Tom Woodard

One Game at a Time*

CHORUS
One game at a time, sweet Bama,
that’s all I’m asking of you,
To do every day, all of the things,
that you have to do.
Last week is gone, sweet Bama,
and next year may never be mine;
Tide, for my sake, prepare and take,
one game at a time.

Do you remember, when Bear walked among men?
Well Bama, you know, as the SEC shows,
it’s tougher now than then.
There’s Tigers and Gaters, Volunteers a crime,
So for my sake, devote time to take,
one game at a time.

(Repeat CHORUS)

I’m only human, I’m just a man,
Help me to see, the Crimson Tide Roll,
while I’m still in this land.
Climb that bright stairway,
that you have to climb,
Bama, for my sake, prepare and take,
one game at a time.

(Repeat CHORUS)
