Fighting Many Wars
I experienced a profound revelation this morning, and it is founded in 2nd Corinthians 10:3-6, "For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (NIV)." As American Christians, we are engaged in three temporal, or earthly wars at present. We are engaged in traditional 'shooting' wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We are also engaged in an internal, civil war against the political and ideological forces in America which are now in political control in our Nation's Capitol, and who have declared war on the very foundation stones of our Country - the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, our individual freedoms and liberties - all those things which have made our Nation great, unique, and special among all other nations of the world.

The fourth war we fight is the battle for the "knowledge of God" over the so-called 'knowledge of man'. In this war we do not use weapons such as rifles, tanks, aircraft, etc, as we do in Iraq and Afghanistan. Nor do we use the weapons of intellectual warfare, as the
internal forces arrayed against American independence and freedom are now doing in Washington, such as 'marginalizing' patriotic Americans, and characterizing them as 'un-american' , and as being 'against progress and reform'. No, our weapons are the weapons  given us by God, through Christ, and the chief among these is the very knowledge of God, and His Truth, which render the so-called wisdom of man as mere foolishness. Yes, sometimes, as now, that foolishness wins many converts among the ignorant. Nevertheless, it remains foolishness. The Truth of God will "demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God", if only we will keep ourselves steeped in the Word, and seek the guidance of the Lord in all things. The temporal may subject us to all sorts of hardships and even pain. It may imprison us, and seek to silence our Churches and the spreading of the Gospel. It may even put us to death. Yet in all, it cannot defeat us, for it is not we who are battling the "strongholds" of Satan, but God. We are His foot soldiers, and we must keep ourselves armed with the weapons with which He provides us. Let us steadfastly maintain the determination to do so, and to claim the Victory that overcomes the world, through Christ Jesus.

Yours in Christ, Tom Woodard
