Fear Not - In God We Trust
"For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God (1st John 5:4b-5, NIV)." Tell it like it is, John! For the first time in our history, patriotic, freedom-loving, hard-working, good, decent Americans are afraid of their own government, and distrustful of their government. For the first time in our history, Christianity is under attack from the highest places in our own government and society. People are fearful, upset and concerned, and for good reason.

However, no matter what may come our way, no matter what oppression, privation or pain may be our lot in the days and years to come, we will overcome the world. We will be victorious. In fact, we are overcoming the world daily as we walk through life as His disciples. We who believe in Jesus Christ, and His Father, God, are continually overcoming the world. Jesus said, concerning himself, "He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him (John 5:23b, NIV)." But we who have faith in the Father, through the Son, overcome the world!

God does not promise us freedom from pain

or want, or from privation or persecution. What He does promise is that He will be with us, we who believe, through whatever hardships or deprivation come our way. We, as Americans, have become spoiled, and worldly. We have gratified our wants and desires at the cost to our posterity. It is time for us to humble ourselves before the Lord, to beg His forgiveness, to turn from our wicked ways, and to nurture our faith, that we may have, on a daily basis, and throughout eternity, "the victory that has overcome the world". And how are we to go about returning to the strength of our faith? Through reading and studying His Word, the Bible, through sincere and simple prayer, and thorough being quiet and listening, patiently, for the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit. How simple! And yet we fail Him continually by neglecting one or more of these easy, un-burdensome devotionals.

Have victory in Christ! Overcome the world, no matter what comes your way, through Jesus! The victory is ours, and ours alone, in Him. "This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith." Have faith.

Yours in Christ, Tom Woodard
