"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter (Isaiah 5:20, NIV)." Does this Scripture from over two thousand years ago not jump out at you as though it was first written just yesterday? Man substituting his so-called wisdom for the divine wisdom of God, and subverting truth to promote his own ends? Is this not the overarching theme of our government and our ‘leaders’? Is it not the practice of worldly organizations and governments with evil agendas to push? And of corporations and others trying to sell you something, whether that ‘something’ be a tangible product or an abstract construct? It is Scriptures such as this which reveal to us, again and again, that the Scriptures are indeed the divinely inspired Word of God, and that they are timeless and contain everlasting and unchanging Truth - not the ‘facts’ and relative truths of man, but the immutable Truth of the Lord! That which is of man, from man, and promoted by man is the stuff of failure, catastrophe and enslavement. That which is of God, and given by God, is the guide path to victory, peace, and freedom. The Founding Fathers understood that our basic freedoms come from God, and are |
(Continued) irrefutable, immutable, and irrevocable. No government has the right to attempt to revoke them. Anything given by government can be taken away by government. Anything given by despots, kings and rulers can be arbitrarily taken away. But God gave us free will, and those unalienable rights declared in the Declaration of Independence, and when governments and despots try to take those rights from us which come to us from what the Founders called ‘Natural Law’, we have a right to fight back and to do all within our power to preserve those rights, just as our forefathers did. This is the essence of America. Isaiah went on to say, in the very next verse, "Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight (Isaiah 5:21, NIV)." Is this not as fresh as the day? Does it not speak to our so-called ‘leaders’ in Washington, both Democrat and Republican? Their foolishness is abundant and clear. Anyone who cares to look can see this. "Enter ye in at the straight gate: for wide is the gate , and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat (Matthew 7:13, KJV)." Yours in Christ, Tom Woodard |
