Musings on Faith #66 American Liberty, Christian Faith | |
|
"How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:14, KJV)." The writer of Hebrews, whose name shall forever remain unknown to us, but who was a great Messenger of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, had been speaking of the blood sacrifices of the Old Testament. Then, in verse 14 of Chapter 9, he compared the once and for all sacrifice of Christ on the cross to that Old Testament sacrifice of bulls and goats, which could never fully ‘pay the price’ for our sins. But Jesus Christ did pay that price, for us, once and forever! We are in tumultuous times right now in this Land that we love - America. Internal forces, in opposition to the Constitution and the principles of Liberty and Democracy, are attempting to carry us into full-fledged Socialism, where individual liberties and individual rights are subjected to the ‘corporate good’ and where faith in God is supplanted by faith in The State. We who love both our Country and our Lord have a great duty - a dual duty - now, to be vigilant, to stand up and be counted, to speak out against those who would destroy that which so many have fought and died to protect. But where do |
(Continued) we find the strength and the wisdom to fight this fight? Certainly not within ourselves, for to do that would be to fight the internal enemies of America on their own terms. No, we need first to look to the Lord. But more so, we need to grasp the great truth that we need to turn from "dead works" to serving "the living God". Let all that we do be pursuant to His will, discerned through meditation and prayer. Then let us be bold, as we stand strong for our beloved America and for our Lord and King, Jesus Christ. I believe that He is calling us to a renewal and revival of our faith, and of our service to Him and to our Country. Pray on this, and let God lead. "God bless America, land that I love; stand beside her, and guide her, through the night, with the Light from above!" Liberty is a fragile and perishable thing. It must be defended. Yours in Christ, Tom Woodard P.S. Let me suggest to you that you obtain and read the book ‘Liberty and Tyranny’, by Mark Levin, in order to better understand the forces at work in America, both for and against Liberty. Another great little book to read is ‘Common Sense’, by Glenn Beck. Both are short and easy to read. |
